Initial Rosters will be set using 3 separate events. The Team control player draft and the Minor league draft will be held at the same time. The Free Agent auction will start upon completion of the team control player draft.
INITIAL DRAFT ORDER
the initial draft order will be selected with a random drawing. For all initial roster events the order will follow a snake draft with a 3rd round reversal. Third round snake reversals are as follows:
-Teams 1-24, 24-1, 24-1, 1-24, 24-1, 1-24 etc.
This is to make it as balanced and fair as possible since the draft order is random
EVENT 1 - TEAM CONTROL PLAYER DRAFT
Since the majority of players that are team controlled have low salaries in the real majors it does not make sense to include them in an auction. We will instead hold a draft to distribute them.
Player Pool: Any Major league level players that are under a team control contract (team control or arbitration eligible) in real life. Some players may have signed an extension to buy out their arbitration years and they will be included in the veteran auction instead. A list of players will be posted prior to the draft so there is no confusion. If a player is not on the list of players, but has over 130 MLB AB's/50 IP and have 6 or less years of MLB experience you may take them. (starts counting from the first year they were over the minors inning limit)
Contracts: team control contracted players will be at our league value of $550,000. Arbitration contracted players will be at the players real life 2018 salary. A list will be posted on the draft thread to prevent confustion. If an eligible player not on the list is taken they will be at $550,000 for the 2019 season and will be follow years of experience to determine what kind of team control
Draft Order: random drawing - snake draft with 3rd round reversal - 1-24, 24-1, 24-1, 1-24, 24-1, 1-24 etc.
Rounds: 12 rounds are mandatory, you may pass starting in round 13. The rest of your roster will be filled in the Free Agent auction.
Draft Clock: This will be a slow draft that allows managers to check in periodically daily - 12 hr/pick and the clock stops from Midnight to 7 AM EST.
Missed/Illegal Picks: If an owner does not pick within their allotted 12 hrs, selects a player that is already taken, or takes an ineligible player their pick will not count, and the next team in the draft order will be able to make their selection. They will be able to correct their missed pick at any time and it will be time stamped on the message board.
EVENT 2 - MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER DRAFT
In order to make the initial roster setup as fair as possible the draft order will be reverse order of the first year player draft order
Player Pool: Players signed to a real MLB team that have less than 130 AB or 50 IP
Contracts: 550K/yr
Draft Order: Reverse order of the team control draft order - snake draft with 3rd round reversal - 24-1, 1-24, 1-24, 24-1, 1-24 ect...
Rounds: 15 rounds are mandatory, you may pass starting in round 16 but you will most likely want to take a couple more players to factor in player promotions and trades
Draft Clock:This will be a slow draft that allows managers to check in periodically daily - 12 hr/pick and the clock stops from Midnight to 7 AM EST.
EVENT 3 - free Agent Auction
Player Pool:
UPDATED
Since we will be finishing the TC draft at the same time as the Veteran auction you will not be able to nominate an unsigned Team Control Contracted Player until the Team control draft is completely finished. Once the TC draft is completed then all unsigned players can be bid on. You will gain team control of the player wherever they were in the progression of contacts at the salary that you won them at.
.
Until the TC draft is complete you may only nominate players with VETERAN contracts. A player list will be posted in the Veteran auction section of the site.
Nominating Players: Each team may have up to 3 players nominated at one time. There should be no more than 72 players up for auction at one time. Once a player you nominated has been won you can nominate a new player. You do not have to bid on a player you nominated. Please try not to have duplicate players up for auction as the duplicated auction will be deleted.
BIDDING RULES
Minimum bid $550,000
Bid Increments $200,000
Salary/Bidding Rules: You must have enough salary to cover all winning bids and fill all open roster spots.
WATCH YOUR BIDS CAREFULLY!!!! SOMEONE ALWAYS BIDS ON MORE PLAYERS THEN THEY HAVE REMAINING SALARY CAP FOR. DON'T BE THAT PERSON!!!!!!
WINNING PLAYERS To win a player the high bid must stand for 12 hours.
CONTRACTS: Winning bid becomes the players base salary. If the player is a veteran you will be able to assign a contact length of 1-5 years at your discretion upon the completion of the entire auction. If a player is still under a team control status (under 6 yrs exp). the winning team will gain team control of the player with the winning bid as their salary for the upcoming season and the player will continue to follow the Team control, Arbitration eligible path that they are on.
