WAIVERS
When a player is released from a team they will be placed on waivers at their current salary/contract. Players will remain on waivers for 7 days. Teams can put in a waiver claim to acquire the player at their current salary and bids are awarded to the lowest team in the standings. If a player is not acquired via waivers they will then become a free agent and teams can bid for their services with the winning bid becoming their new salary.
FREE AGENTS
Free agents pool includes all major league players not signed to a team – minor leaguers cannot be won via free agency
-Free agents are bid on using your remaining cap space.
-Free agents bids are first come first served
-Veteran free agents won during the season are assigned a 1 yr. contract.
- Team controlled eligible free agent’s contracts will pick up wherever the player is in their career contract progression with the new team gaining team control of the player.
TRADES
You may trade:
-Major and Minor League players
-Draft picks – June Amateur Draft and the rule 5 draft – you may only trade picks from the current season and the following season.
You may not trade:
Salary/money – been down this road and it gets way too hard to track and can lead to teams getting extra salary cap.
TRADE APPROVAL SYSTEM
-Due to the different plans teams may have with majors and minors, trades should not be vetoed unless they are extremely unfair or there may be collusion involved. It is meant to prevent cheating or trades that are detrimental to the league NOT trades you just don’t like.
-Trades are approved by a league vote system --- If the league vetoes a trade the 2 managers involved with the trade can appeal the decision by explaining how the trade is beneficial to their team to the commissioner. If both teams can show how they are getting benefit from the deal then a trade will be allowed to go through despite the veto.
JUNE AMATEUR DRAFT
-2 rounds -Reverse order of the previous year’s standings.
-Player pool: anyone selected in the real MLB June amateur draft.
-Players get added to team’s minor league rosters and will be assigned a salary of $550,000 in the offseason following the year they were drafted.
-If a player fails to sign with the real MLB team you will lose rights to the player and will not be responsible for any salary. You will receive a compensatory pick at the end of the round they were drafted in the next year’s June draft
