How will the original draft order be determined? Purely randomized?
Stolen bases are scored at half the score of a Home run. In today’s game, HR are more plentiful than stolen bases are. If we want this league to mirror real MLB, SB’s should be valued higher/at least the same as HR based on scarcity of the stat.

Actually if you take into consideration that a solo HR also produces a run and an RBI, then it would be 4 + 2.25 + 2.25 = 8.5 points.

My two cents. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think scarcity of individual statistics is particularly relevant in straigh H2H points leagues though I do agree with this sentiment in other formats. Unlike category and roto you're under no obligation to roster each individual statistic. I think the rationale behind most points systems is try to mimic run creation/prevention and weight each category based on their relative value not their relative scarcity. HR is 4 bases, SB is just 1 base. Since you're under no obligation to roster SBs in a straight H2H points format so the scarcity is kind of irrelevant. We get points for triples too and they are incredibly rare so if scarcity was part of the equation than triples should probably be the highest weighted statistic. I don't think anybody would advocate for that.

The draft order will be randomly drawn. I though it would be cool to do it like on youtube live if i can figure out how to do that. I think i have it good to go. That way we have a record of it being completely random as well.
To answer your questions about stolen bases scoring. I think Halifax's reply sums it up my thinking pretty well. The rational behind the scoring is to mirror the events that are important to winning in a real baseball game. While no system can reflect this perfectly, my thought is that instead of comparing stolen bases to a homerun in importance which is a play that gives a team instant runs. A stolen base should be compared more to a double. The most common stolen base is a to 2nd base which puts a player into scoring position. This it why i have scored it more comparably to a double rather than weighing it more equal to a homerun.

I love the YouTube live event and I like that explanation from the 2 of you. This is also my first points league. Should be a fun experiment
